‘Riail na Gaeilge’ and Speaking Irish
The Irish Gaelthacht Course can only be effective if students refrain from conversing in English for the duration of the course. Coláiste Naomh Eoin insists that students respect and abide by this fundamental rule. While students can incorporate English words and phrases into sentences in Gaeilge, they will at all times be encouraged to avail of their presence in the Gaeltacht and to actively seek to fill the gaps in their vocabulary. Special help will be given to students with little of no fluency in the language
Settling in
The first few days of the course are very important and it is essential that our students develop a positive learning attitude as early as possible. After the first few days students should become adjusted and acclimatized to an all-Irish speaking environment. Students should enjoy the course, participate fully in class and in the afternoon activities and most importantly speak Irish at all times, before you know it you will find yourself thinking as Gaeilge! If for any reason your son/daughter encounters any difficulty in settling in or is unhappy about anything please contact his/her us immediately. We are always here to help students to enjoy every aspect of the course as much as possible.
